NEW SAFETY PROTOCOL
Patient Protocol
- Verbal Patient screening questionnaire is strictly enforced before appointments are scheduled.
- Keeping our reception room empty from now on to achieve maximum social distancing.
- Patients arriving for their dental appointment will now call office upon arrival but remain in their car until the moment we are ready for them. Also, during that call, we will re-verify that they do not have symptoms.
- When the operatory is ready, we call the patient to come in.
- Only patients with appointments and one guardian permitted into the office (if needed). Everyone else will be asked to remain in their car and not accompany the patient into the office.
- Everyone entering facility will have temperature taken, hands sanitized, and issued shoe covers (and masks if they did not bring their own).
- Masks are required to be worn at all times while in the facility except when instructed to remove for dental procedures. They are to be worn at all other times, including during paperwork, signing patient consents, and immediately when dental procedure has been completed.

The Perfect Smile Team Protocol
- All staff of The Perfect Smile are required to record their own temperature readings at the start of their shift. Those with higher temperatures will not be allowed to enter facility.
- All staff of The Perfect Smile are required to wear surgical masks and protective shoe covers at ALL TIMES while in the office.
- Dental Assistants, Dental Hygienist, and Dentist will add a SECOND mask ON TOP of their first masks during actual dental procedures, along with a face shield.
- All non-dental treatment areas such as countertops and door handles are disinfected hourly.
- All pen and clip boards used by patients are disinfected prior to being used again.
- The plastic covers on the dental chairs are disposed of after each patient, then the dental chairs are wiped down with cavicide.
- This is in addition to all the high standards dental offices already had in place prior to Covid-19, including DentaPure™ technology for our water lines, autoclave sterilization of dental instruments and weekly spore testing to ensure this sterilization equipment is operating at the highest standard.
Added Equipment
- AT ALL TIMES, The Perfect Smile will employ medical grade HEPA-13 air purifier units with smart technology to indicate when filters need to be changed. The strategically placed combined effort of the 2 larger units and 4 smaller units will completely clean and recycle all the air in the office within every 4 minutes.
- In addition, each of the operatories are now equipped with External Oral Suction Devices to safely remove anything aerosolized from a patient mouth immediately (and not let it potentially circulate in the office). The device will be positioned nearby the patient mouth and is powerful enough to catch any exhale and debris/virus airborne and aerosolized from the mouth. This air is then sent through the device’s HEPA filters and irradiated with UVC light before releasing back into the office.
Automated Daily After-Hours Facility Disinfection
- The facility has been upgraded with 21 Ultraviolet-C (UV-C) light sources spaced throughout the facility. Because of the inherent dangers of being around/exposed to UV-C, these UV-C sources can only be operated at the end of each day without anyone present. We irradiate the entire facility at the end of each day for 90 minutes.
- In addition, we continue to run our medical grade HEPA-13 air purification systems for an additional 4 hours after the last patient leaves each day.
